Here in the west country we've been on cable internet for over a decade, with what was telewest. Telewest were great, and even after the various mergers Virgin isn't too bad out here. NTL seemed to be the polar opposite, and I suspect you're in their former territory. My condolences. (NTL and Telewest merged, became NTL:Telewest, merged with Virgin Mobile, then rebranded to Virgin Media) Virgin seems to vary by region.
