The South African XMPP Federation OpenID Server uses XEP-0070 for a password-less OpenID authentication. Regarding the JID and OpenID binding, "instead of trusting both the jabber server and the openid provider, we can trust only the Jabber server".. And this integration could allow a combination of XEP-0154 and OpenID attribute exchanges, for example. I've discovered the Drupal distributed authentication on the Ejabberd site : "Distributed authentication enables a new user to input a username and password into the login box, and immediately be recognized, even if that user never registered at ejabberd Community Site. This works because Drupal knows how to communicate with external registration databases. [...] You may login to ejabberd Community Site using a Jabber ID. The format of a Jabber ID is the same as an email address: name@server An example of valid Jabber ID is mwlily@jabber.com. Note that you must be able to access port 111 on the Jabber server from your web server. For example, sourceforge.net blocks port 111 so Jabber authentication does not work".. This sounds to be a cool mechanism, except it requires to use the JID password. Ideally, the Drupal distributed authentication should use XEP-0070 instead. And there are other interesting social stuff to build with PEP.

hmm … XEP-0070 sounds interesting. No OpenID. Don’t like it. And it won’t really work. We will probably use drupal for the website and link authentification. However, I have never heard of Drupal distributed authentification.
